  Welcome to the Hazards and High Consequence Incidents web-based training (PER-372W).  This interactive training begins to build a foundation for pre-incident planning so communities are prepared for responding and recovering from potential high consequence incidents. Through this course, you will learn about locations where these incidents could occur as well as how to identify hazards.  

  You will review the use of the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) and safety data sheets (SDS) for two products, crude oil, and ammonium nitrate, that have been involved in high consequence incidents. Although you may not have these specific materials in or around your community, the skills you learn to investigate them can be applied to materials in your community. By the end of this course, you should be able to detect the presence of hazardous materials, identify the pertinent information for the hazardous materials and collect hazard information from the ERG and relevant SDSs.
  

  To attend the one-day High Consequence Incidents: Planning, Response, and Recovery instructor-led course  (PER-372), you must successfully complete the Hazards and High Consequence Incidents with at least a 70% on the post-test. You will receive a Certificate of Completion for the WBT.
  

  Once you have successfully completed the post-test, return to the course page and complete the course evaluation in order to print your certificate.  
  

  It is recommended to complete this course on a desktop, laptop or tablet.

  Course Overview and Introduction

  The Course Overview module provides an overview of the web-based training including course information and navigation.  The pre-test will test what you already know and provide with an insight into what you will be learning.  Finally, Module 1 begins with an overview of what hazardous materials are, available clues and resources. Once the pre-test and both modules are completed, Modules 2 and 3 will be made available.
